Graduate Certificate in Child Well-being and Protection
Topic description
This topic is designed to provide an opportunity for students to participate in a project (either group or individual) that examines some aspect of particular interest to them which related to child well-being or protection. The project should focus on an exploration of practice and service in Australia or issues related to specific populations, cultures, nationalities or ethnic groups in a global context. Students choosing an individual project may choose to be linked into an existing topic within the Discipline that has relevance to their subject area.
Educational aims
This topic is designed to provide an opportunity for students to participate in a project that examines some aspect of practice or policy that impacts directly on populations and/or those who are receiving services. It is designed to provide an opportunity for more specific and detailed knowledge in one area related to the topic.
Expected learning outcomes
On successful completion of this topic students will have:
  • demonstrated ability to conduct detailed investigation on one issue of concern related to practice with clients, populations or service delivery
  • demonstrated ability to submit a report or paper which reflects on in-depth analysis on one issue of concern within the field of child well-being and protection
  • shown the capacity to work independently or on a group to produce a credible report related to the subject matter of this topic
