Topic description
This topic encourages students to recognise the structure of a good research project, and learn the skills of successfully presenting such research to a wider audience. Through attending regular archaeology seminars students will be introduced to a wide range of research projects and interests, as well as meet with adjunct staff and visiting scholars in order to develop their own research and presentation skills. Each student will be required to attend seminars each week, and present a seminar on their own research project within the seminar series.
Educational aims
The aims of the topic are to:

  • provide students with experience of a wide range of research projects and outcomes

  • introduce students to the skills of effective presentation

  • give students the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in presenting their own research
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will:

  • understand the skills of effective presentation

  • enhance and practice their own skills in presentation

  • gain a greater understanding of how their own research fits within a wider field
