This topic is a component of an 18-unit topic. Students must enrol in the other components and complete the full number of units required for this topic. Students complete an 18,000 word thesis on a topic to be negotiated with their supervisor.

This topic aims to:

enable students to investigate in depth a specific area dealing with contemporary issues related to legal studies
allow students to engage with a research area relevant to their Honours thesis research
encourage an inter-disciplinary approach to students' research
identify research and implementation strategies appropriate to the issues identified and discussed

On completion of this topic students will be able to:

adequately undertake and successfully complete a research project dealing with a specific contemporary issue in legal studies
identify connections between this specific area of research and their Honours thesis
demonstrate the ability to source and apply relevant materials from a range of disciplines to the chosen specific area of research
identify strategies appropriate to the issues identified through this research
