Topic description
The topic provides students with an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills by which they can incorporate a health promotion philosophy and approach to social planning by learning about theoretical health promotion frameworks and health promotion concepts.
Educational aims
To provide an opportunity to explore foundation theories, concepts and models of health promotion and a range of health promoting skills, applicable to social planning.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic, students will be able to:

  • examine and understand foundation theories, models and concepts of health promotion

  • examine a range of health promotion skills that will enable the application of theory to practice in social planning.

  • explore a range health promotion strategies which are aligned to the different models of health promotion.
