Topic description
This is the final topic for the course and consolidates students' knowledge and clinical skills in preparation for registration as a midwife. The content includes professional issues related to practicing in a midwifery led care model.
Educational aims
This topic aims to enable the student to consolidate their knowledge and skills to demonstrate safe, evidence based midwifery practice required for registration as midwives with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
- Provide safe and competent care to women, neonates and their families including caseload management
- Demonstrate reflective and evidence based clinical and professional reasoning for woman centered midwifery led care
- Demonstrate competent use of health informatics and health technology
- Establish, maintain and collaborate in constructive relationships with all members of the health care team to provide woman centred care
- Demonstrate the NMBA Midwife Standards for Practice and the University’s Graduate Qualities
