Topic description

This topic investigates an aspect of Systematic Theology. This aspect might be an extension of the subject matter studied in a Systematic Theology topic for the ordinary degree, the work of a major theologian or group of theologians, the development of a doctrine through a period of history, or the various approaches to a particular theological issue. A proposed method of assessment must be submitted to the topic convener. After approval has been given, a supervisor with whom the student will work will be appointed.

This topic aims to provide students with opportunities to:

  • Investigate an aspect of Systematic Theology in depth
  • Develop skills in basic research and analysis
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Identify an aspect of Systematic Theology that merits scholarly investigation
  2. Identify relevant recent and historical literature about the chosen issue and critically evaluate its relevance
  3. Communicate theoretical and theological concepts related to Systematic Theology to a variety of audiences
  4. Demonstrate research skills in identifying, accessing, assessing, and analysing relevant primary and secondary sources related to Systematic Theology
