On successful completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • Critique and synthesize the theoretical knowledge that underpins delivery of care during a primary survey

  • Critique and apply the best available evidence in planning and implementing a primary survey in the context of emergency care

  • Identify and apply specialised theoretical knowledge in the assessment and management of patients requiring lifesaving interventions during a primary survey

  • Explain the theoretical knowledge that underpins delivery of care during a secondary survey

  • Critique and apply the best available evidence in planning and implementing a secondary survey in the context of emergency care.
