In this topic students will develop specialised knowledge and advanced clinical skills in the area of emergency care nursing.

The aim of this topic is for students to develop specialised knowledge and advanced skills in the emergency care environment.

On successful completion of this topic students will be able to:

Critique and synthesize the theoretical knowledge that underpins delivery of care during a primary survey
Critique and apply the best available evidence in planning and implementing a primary survey in the context of emergency care
Identify and apply specialised theoretical knowledge in the assessment and management of patients requiring lifesaving interventions during a primary survey
Explain the theoretical knowledge that underpins delivery of care during a secondary survey
Critique and apply the best available evidence in planning and implementing a secondary survey in the context of emergency care.
