Topic description
In this topic students will develop and apply specialised knowledge and advanced clinical skills for nursing people across the lifespan with acute cardiovascular conditions.
Educational aims
The aim of this topic is for students to develop and demonstrate specialised knowledge, skills and attributes in the assessment and management of people across the lifespan with acute cardiovascular conditions.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be expected to be able to:

  • Analyse and interpret the results of diagnostic testing and monitoring used for patients with acute cardiovascular conditions) and explain the clinical significance of the results

  • Critically evaluate and demonstrate specialised knowledge of the appropriate use of different medical, pharmacological and surgical interventions in the management of cardiovascular conditions

  • Synthesize and apply the best available evidence and relevant professional standards for planning, implementation and evaluation of care for people with cardiovascular conditions

  • Demonstrate a family-centred care approach to assisting individuals in the prevention, management and recovery of cardiovascular conditions

  • Demonstrate competency against the designated professional standards for nursing patients with cardiovascular conditions.
