In this topic students will be introduced to advanced camera techniques and strategies for shooting digital stories.

Students will be exposed to digital story telling cinematography concepts and techniques, with opportunities to extend their knowledge while working collaboratively and creatively with their peers.

This topic aims to provide students with:

an advanced understanding of how the camera is used for screen production with reference to drama, documentary and underwater productions
an opportunity to view fiction and non-fiction films and analyses the cinematography critically
an advanced understanding of the role of the cinematographer in screen production

On completion of this topic students will be able to demonstrate

a theoretical understanding of the role of the camera and cinematographer in screen production
an advanced knowledge of the use of the camera in screen productions, including underwater applications
application of advanced camera techniques through individual research
the ability to critically evaluate the administrative requirements for individual projects, and apply standard practices in risk mitigation and workplace health and safety
the use of technical and creative skills to apply theoretical and practical knowledge of cinematography to professional practice or scholarship
the ability to generate and evaluate complex ideas associated with lighting and composition in documentary production
