Topic description

Students will reflect on their creative practice and short video production skills as well as producing supporting documentation for the major creative project. Through a photo essay, press kit and reflection on their role as director, students will communicate the key aspects of their short video production process.

Educational aims

This topic aims to:

  • Encourage students to communicate advanced research and/or production skills
  • Develop and create materials to promote the major video production to audiences
  • Reflect on the creative practice and processes necessary for screen production
  • Identify the student’s unique directorial voice as filmmakers
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Evaluate and discuss their capacity to develop and produce short videos in collaboration with key crew
  2. Communicate research and/or production skills through visual and written documentation and demonstrate critical thinking about these issues
  3. Create a press kit and marketing materials to promote a video project to the relevant audience
  4. Justify to audiences the content, style, genre and significance of a short video production
  5. Integrate an extended understanding of screen and media theory and production through reflections and production documentation
  6. Articulate the significance and unique perspectives contained in the student’s short video production
