Topic description
This topic provides commencing international graduate students with English language skills and training in academic writing. This topic aims to extend students proficiency in writing academic English with a focus on the organisation and coherence in argument construction and critical thinking in text.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:
- extend students understanding of process writing
- develop the skills needed to plan and research in an academic context
- focus on argument construction and the structure of critical thinking
- improve writing skills in the English language
Expected learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this topic, students will be able to:
- recognise argument structure in written text
- demonstrate the ability plan insightful essays using argument structure
- critique logical development in written texts
- interpret and utilise other research to support their argument
