Topic description

This topic works to bring to life and inspire ongoing thinking around the concepts and learnings across the degree. It prepares students to lead creatively by exploring examples of cultural shift, renaissance, revival and radical transformation in the creative arts. Learning about cultural and creative leadership through case studies and examples of creativity at large, this topic provides a pathway to further study or in your practice as a creative artist and thinker. The topic will consider current and future moments of shift and radical rethink in the arts. Assessment includes genuine collaboration with your peers and other leaders in the arts, writing up of funding applications, to give students experience with the realities of life in the arts. Other topics include: the idea of taking a risk, how to intuit the right moment creatively, how to identify ethical and supportive networks and how to thrive in the arts.

Educational aims

This topic aims to have students be ready to enter the creative industries workforce with the skills, capabilities and knowledge basis to recognise extant, new and emerging opportunities in the field of culture, creative industries and enterprise. To be able to assess the sector critically and practically.

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
