Skills and knowledge such as can be obtained in GEOG8700 Geographical Information Systems GE, GEOG8008 Geographical Information Systems, GEOG2700 Geographical Information Systems, or GEOG3013 Geographical Information Systems.

A research thesis of approximately 8,000 words to be written under the supervision of a member of the staff. The thesis is to give evidence of the student's abilities in collecting and evaluating information and critically examining theories in the area of enquiry.

The aim of this topic is to provide students with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to undertake independent research with minimal supervision. At the completion of the topic, students are expected to be able to:

Develop a research project
Carry out a background literature search and synthesis
Carry out analysis of spatial data to address a research question
Write a minor research thesis communicating the results of their research project
