Assignments; 400 hours Practicum; Clinical Examination.

This topic is the second part of a core topic for nurses in the Master of Remote Health Practice. HLTH9015A/B builds on other nursing topics in preparing remote area nurses to function at nurse practitioner level. Students are expected to complete a clinical project that demonstrates a leadership role in remote area nursing. Students complete their portfolio of learning to demonstrate extended practice that meets the requirements of the ANMC Nurse Practitioner competencies.

HLTH9015A and HLTH9015B are taught and assessed as a continuum and must be undertaken in two consecutive semesters.

At the end of the topic the student will have the skills, knowledge and attitudes to perform as a nurse practitioner in a remote area, demonstrate leadership in remote area nursing and be able to present a portfolio to the relevant state nursing board.

On completion of this topic, students will be able to:

Complete a clinical project demonstrating a leadership role in remote area nursing
Describe the requirements and processes for registration as a nurse practitioner
Prepare a nurse practitioner portfolio
Demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning
