Topic description
Effective supply chain and logistics strategy drive improved business performance. Supply chain management can play a strategic role in delivering customer value and companies can achieve competitive advantage through leveraging the management of their supply chains. This topic is designed to provide graduates with in-depth knowledge of the concepts of logistic and supply chain strategy. They will also learn how companies in practice can utilise the supply chain strategy to respond to the needs of end-consumers and build competitive advantages.
Educational aims
The educational aim of the topic is to provide students with in-depth knowledge of concepts of logistics and supply chain strategy and develop skills to critically analyse a company’s supply chain strategy in practice.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic, students will be expected to be able to:

  1. Explain the concepts and theories of logistics and supply chain strategy and how they can be operationalised

  2. Discuss how companies can compete through their supply chains

  3. Apply the appropriate supply chain strategy concepts and theories to critically analyse the real-life business cases

  4. Evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of a company’s supply chain strategy considering the supply chain strategy drivers.
