This topic provides students with the opportunity to extend professional practice through work integrated learning experiences and outcomes. Students will work with clients from community organisations (with significant volunteer numbers) to produce short documentaries.

This topic aims to:

enable students to experience work integrated learning through professional practice
enable students the opportunity to work with community organisations to develop a brief and working documents for short documentaries
enable students to work with client organisations through key production and post-production processes and milestones to production completion
enable students to work in small production crews to interpret and work to a client brief
enable students to work with the volunteer sector and the wider community
enable students to gain a knowledge of production formats and deliverables for short community documentaries
enable students the opportunity to work with a series producer and post-production supervisor to deliver a client based product
allow students to further develop the skills in risk assessing and generating paperwork for a screen production project

On completion of this topic students will:

have increased their ability to identify and engage in professional practice
be able to work with community clients, to interpret a brief and deliver documentation for the production of short documentaries
have developed their ability to identify, schedule and deliver production components through key milestones
be able to identify and act on creative and technical revisions from client review
be able to work in small crews to interpret, develop, manage and deliver a short documentary for a client organisation
have consolidated their ability to complete and deliver media including master files for online distribution
be able to risk assess, generate paperwork and gain permissions for a screen production project
