Topic description

In this topic students will have the opportunity to develop specialised knowledge and advanced clinical skills for application in Primary Health Care settings including general practice and community nursing.

Educational aims

This topic aims for students to develop specialised knowledge and advanced skills for nursing care of clients in a range of practice and community health care settings.

Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Synthesise and apply strategies to support and manage clinical care specific to individual client needs in a range of practice and community nursing settings
  2. Demonstrate specialised knowledge and advanced skills within the general practice and community nursing settings
  3. Apply evidence informed practice when triaging and assessing clients within a general practice or community nursing setting
  4. Demonstrate advanced communication skills with all members of the multidisciplinary health care team
  5. Analyse, evaluate and apply evidence to developing nursing practice protocols, guidelines and clinical pathways within general practice and community nursing environments
