Topic description

The topic requires students to write a research dissertation under the supervision of an academic staff member.

Educational aims

This topic aims to provide students with an opportunity to develop foundational research skills through the development of a research question, selection of an appropriate research methodology and completion of a supervised research project in their area of enquiry.

Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Design an original research question and relate it to the relevant theoretical literature
  2. Design a research approach that is appropriate to the theoretical area to address a selected research question
  3. Formulate a response to the selected research question by collecting, analysing and interpreting data
  4. Produce a concise research output according to scholarly practice
