DVST9032 Gender Mainstreaming

This topic will consider gender mainstreaming as a strategy for the achievement of gender equality. In order to develop a critical understanding of doing gender mainstreaming, students will investigate how this strategy has been adopted by international agencies, non-government organisations, government agencies and community based organisations. Opportunities will be provided for students to develop their own skills to mainstream gender into organisations, policies, plans and projects through the application of selected gender mainstreaming tools to case studies from Australia and other countries.

This topic aims to:

• Investigate how gender mainstreaming has been adopted by international agencies, non-government organisations, government agencies and community based organisations
• Develop a critical understanding of doing gender mainstreaming
• Provide opportunities for students to develop their own skills to mainstream gender into organisations, policies, plans and projects through the application of selected gender mainstreaming tools to case studies fromAustralia and other countries
