Assumed knowledge
An understanding of human nutrition as it applies to the community and public health setting, an understanding of the fundamental skills in communication and nutritional counselling and an understanding of community and public health frameworks.

Topic description

This topic provides a placement at a metropolitan, rural or remote health service, supported by a Placement Educator who works there. Community/Public Health placements are located in metropolitan Adelaide, rural South Australia, interstate and overseas. The placement gives students the opportunity to develop and demonstrate entry level competencies required to work as a Dietitian in program development, small group education and facilitation and professional practice.

Educational aims

This topic aims to prepare students for the dietetic workforce by providing opportunities for them to develop and demonstrate entry level competencies in program development, small group education and facilitation and professional practice.

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
