Poche Flinders has recently developed a new business model. This has included a revitalised Vision, Mission and Strategic Framework (effective from mid 2019).

To create a life-course approach, to promote learning pathways, support healthy country and culture, and build leadership capacity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in health.

Healthy country, healthy people, health leaders.

The Flinders University Poche Centre for Indigenous Health will focus on developing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders and build the health workforce throughout the South Australian and Northern Territory central corridor by undertaking to:

  1. Provide tertiary learning guidance, pathways and support from youth to retirement in the development of a cohort of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers and leaders.
  2. Foster ongoing partnerships and engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  3. Undertake collaborative research to close the gap.
  4. Incorporate traditional and western innovations into interdisciplinary educational and teaching activities.
