Entry requirements

To be accepted into this course, applicants must meet at least one of the following entry requirements:

hold a Bachelor degree in a related field or equivalent qualification OR
hold a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration or equivalent qualification OR
hold a Graduate Certificate in Artificial Intelligence or equivalent qualification.

Your work experience counts:

If you don’t have a degree, you may be eligible for entry into the Graduate Certificate of Business Administration, which is the first part of the MBA, if you meet one of the following entry requirements:

have a minimum of one year's full-time equivalent professional experience in areas such as marketing, accounting, economics, finance, human resource management or management; or
have minimum of two years' full-time equivalent professional experience in any area.

We understand that committing to 2 years of full-time study can feel overwhelming, so the Master of  Business Administration Artificial Intelligence is designed to be completed in stages. Successfully complete four topics to earn a Graduate Certificate, or eight topics for a Graduate Diploma. If you complete 16 topics you’ll graduate with your Masters in Business Administration Artificial Intelligence.

*Credit may be granted for topics already completed in the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma.

What makes the MBA AI unique?

This is Australia's first MBA that integrates business leadership with artificial intelligence expertise, preparing professionals to navigate emerging technologies, drive organisational transformation and lead with confidence in an AI-powered future.

Can I do my placement in my home state?

Yes! While Flinders University is based in SA, you'll still be able to complete your placement in a location near you, or sometimes even online.

Do you need a degree to study an MBA?

Not necessarily. Work experience is often enough. To view the admission requirements for the MBA, refer to the Handbook.

Do I need a background in AI or IT to study this MBA?

The MBA (AI) is purpose-built for professionals from diverse backgrounds, not just those with technical expertise. It introduces key concepts such as data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence in a clear, accessible way - starting from the fundamentals.

Throughout the program, you'll progressively develop your understanding and confidence. The emphasis is on applying AI within real business settings including strategy, decision-making, operations and innovation, rather than focusing on advanced coding or engineering.

This means you don’t need a technical background to thrive. Success in the program is driven by curiosity, critical thinking and a desire to explore how AI can create meaningful business impact.

What is the difference between CSP and FFP?

Some courses have Commonwealth supported places (CSP) available for domestic students, which means the course is subsidised by the Commonwealth Government. A CSP student will pay this subsidised fee as their student contribution.

Alternatively, a full-fee-paying (FFP) place refers to a course that is not subsidised by the Commonwealth Government, or a course that has filled all available CSP places. A FFP student will pay this fee in its entirety.

Some courses may have both CSP and FFP places available.

Who is eligible to apply?

Flinders Online courses are available for Australian or New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents, holders of Australian permanent humanitarian visas and Pacific Engagement visa holders.

International students in Australia who hold a student visa are not eligible to apply.

When do I apply?

You are encouraged to apply as soon as possible and by no later than teaching commencement dates. If places fill, applications for your preferred start date may close without notice and you will be considered for the next available intake.

Semester 1: teaching commences 2 March 2026 – Applications close 27 February 2026

Are HELP Loans available?

Yes, government-supported HECS-HELP and FEE-HELP loan area available to help eligible students pay for their higher education tuition fees.

HECS-HELP is for students enrolled in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) to cover their student contribution amount.
FEE-HELP is for eligible domestic fee-paying students to cover their full tuition fees.

Both loans are indexed to reflect changes in the cost of living but are otherwise interest free. HELP Loans must be repaid through the tax system once your income reaches a certain threshold, with payments increasing as your earnings rise.
