The R&D group operates within the Flinders Medical Centre, and the Flinders University School of Medicine.  The existence of a hospital, a School of Medicine, and a School of Computer Science, Engineering and Mathematics on the same campus has nurtured a dynamic biomedical engineering environment for the research, development, testing and application of new biomedical devices, services and programs. The R&D group has amassed a valuable pool of technical and engineering knowledge in medical device development  with over 30 years experience in the creation of new devices.

Mechanical workshop

A full mechanical workshop enables construction of devices in a range of plastics (perspex, teflon, dacron) and metals.

Circuit board design & PCB manufacture

Circuit board design software (Altium) is used with a PCB cutter (LPKF) to create circuit boards in-house. Multi-layer and flexible circuit boards are designed in-house and manufactured off-site. 


A range of software products is available for use in developing medical devices: Altium, C++, Inventor, LabView, MatLab, MPLab, and Solidworks.
