As a Clinical Epidemiologist you’ll monitor, analyse and interpret health data to understand disease trends and guide health policy. Tasks often include designing studies and surveillance systems, modelling population risk, evaluating interventions, communicating findings to clinicians, policymakers, or public health teams, and sometimes responding to outbreaks.
This role may be based in government health departments, research agencies, hospitals or universities.
Support and manage clinical trials: developing protocols, ensuring compliance with ethics and regulatory standards, coordinating trial operations (participant recruitment, study site monitoring, data collection), analysing trial outcomes, collaborating with clinicians or sponsors. Employers may include hospitals, contract research organisations (CROs), pharmaceutical companies, or academic medical research institutes.
Works under the guidance of more senior staff to conduct literature reviews, manage data (entry, cleaning, preparation), assist in designing/protocols, compile reports, help produce manuscripts, and support ethics submissions. These roles help build core research skills and often serve as stepping-stones into higher research or clinical research roles.
Graduates emerge with the skills to frame research questions, design clinical trials, and lead evidence-based studies that enhance healthcare outcomes. Through this program, you will learn to design and evaluate clinical trials, apply epidemiological and biostatistical methods, and critically assess health data to identify biases and improve care.
You will gain the ability to communicate complex concepts to specialist and non-specialist audiences, apply health economic approaches, and translate evidence into practice.
