I have recently been lucky to have been offered an internship position at the World Health Organisation in Geneva. I will be working on the team for medical devices within the Department of Essential Health Technologies (http://www.who.int/medical_devices/en/). WHO Department of Essential Health Technologies aims to ensure worldwide improved access, quality and use of safe and appropriate medical devices in line with Primary Health Care Reform. I will be working on 2 projects examining Medical Imaging in a Public Health context examining the radiation doses from medical imaging and the contribution of medical imaging to the management of chronic disease.
I was offered the position after seeing a link to interships on the WHO website. There are 2 intakes per year, available to only current students, with an online application process. 2 months after applying I was delighted to be offered an interview. I had a Skype interview with the Medicial Devices unit in Geneva, and at the conclusion of the interview was offered the position.
