Honours, awards and grants

pig industry and from external industries and institutes. These have supported both my research and commercialization efforts, enabling me to make meaningful contributions to the field.

Ronald J Leinert Scholarship (PorkSA): During my time as a student, I was honoured to receive the prestigious Scholarship from PorkSA. This scholarship not only provided valuable support for my honours project but also acknowledged the promise of my research within the pig industry.

APL Support for PhD Research: Throughout my doctoral studies, I received support from Australian Pork Limited for my research, underscoring their recognition of the significance of my work and its potential to drive positive change within the industry.

APRIL Enterprise Award: I am privileged to have recently been honoured with the APRIL Enterprise Award, which reflects the confidence of the industry in the importance of my research and its potential to make meaningful contributions to pig production practices.

End Food Waste CRC Grant: I am proud to have been awarded a 2.5-year grant from the End Food Waste CRC to investigate the use of non-thermally processed grape marc in pig and poultry production around times of high stress. This project aims to explore innovative solutions to enhance animal welfare and productivity in the face of challenging conditions whilst using underutilised streams of agricultural waste.

Marine Byproducts CRC Grant: Additionally, I have received a grant from the Marine Byproducts CRC to investigate the use of a preweaning fucoidan drench to mitigate the effects of weaning stress on the gastrointestinal health of piglets. This project underscores my commitment to exploring novel approaches to improving piglet welfare and health.

APRIL Fellowship: I have been honoured with the support for my project; Finding natural alternatives to antimicrobial usage for piglets, with a particular emphasis on early life setup, pre and post-weaning management, and interventions.
