Fiona has over 20 years experience in project administration and management and is the manager of the National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training (NCGRT) headquartered at Flinders University which is ranked 13th in the World University Rankings for Water Resources (ARWU Subject Ranking 2019). Working in the Research Development and Support Team and the College of Science and Engineering, Fiona is supporting world-class researchers to develop and secure funding opportunities, manage projects and promote the dissemination of research findings via a range of knowledge transfer and adoption opportunities. Her key strength is collaborating with stakeholders from the groundwater industry, government, and academia in Australia and internationally.

Fiona has a long history of coordinating groundwater professional development for a broad range of stakeholders from the community to practitioners wanting to upskill for many years. She manages the National Groundwater Training Program delivering groundwater training to more than 800 students per year. Fiona has previously provided strategic and logistical support to the Australian Chapter of the International Hydrogeologists and continues to be actively involved in the Australian Chapter Committee and NCGRT to deliver the biennial Australasian Groundwater Conference to over 600 delegates from across the globe.

Of the many projects that NCGRT is undertaking, Fiona is currently project managing the $2.6M BHP/Rio Tinto Groundwater Modelling Decision Support Initiative (GMDSI) which aims to improve the role groundwater modelling can make in groundwater management, regulation, and decision making.
