Ilke is an Associate Professor of Economics in the College of Business, Government and Law at Flinders University. Until recently, he served as an academic editor of an international multi-disciplinary journal, PLOS ONE. His general field of research is applied microeconomics with special focus on industrial organization, auctions, health and development economics, economics of information systems and electronic commerce. He has numerous academic articles and multiple successful grant applications, including grants from the Australian Centre for Financial Studies, the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), the Regional Australia Institute, iMove CRC, and more recently an Australian Research Council Linkage grant. He has also been part of a tender for the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office to audit the performance of the allocation of electronic gaming machine entitlements in Victoria. He was a visiting researcher at University of Southern Denmark, University of Tübingen in Germany, and Adelaide University. Has also served as an external reviewer for the grants program for the Global Development Network, the research grants program of the Scientific and Technological Council of Turkey, as well as the Australian Research Council grants.
