Jonathan's research focuses on the application of Extended Reality (XR) technologies, including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and immersive media, to improve healthcare, medical education, rehabilitation, and healthy ageing. His work integrates immersive technologies, human-centred design, and implementation research to develop evidence-based digital health solutions that improve patient outcomes, clinical training, and quality of life.

Jonathan has more than 30 years of international leadership experience spanning academia, healthcare innovation, digital media, and technology commercialisation. He is the Founder and CEO of Vue Networks and Vue reality Labs in Singapore, and Vue Reality (Australia), organisations dedicated to developing immersive technologies for healthcare, education, and community wellbeing. His research is characterised by strong multidisciplinary collaboration, bringing together clinicians, engineers, designers, educators, and industry partners to translate emerging technologies into practical clinical and educational applications.

In addition to his appointment at Flinders University, Jonathan is Associate Faculty and Course Lead at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), where he teaches and develops undergraduate courses in digital media, immersive technologies, and virtual reality. He has also taught at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), contributing to programmes in instructional design, multimedia, and communication. He completed his Doctor in Education at NTU, where his award-winning doctoral research investigated augmented feedback for psychomotor skill acquisition in immersive virtual reality learning environments.

Jonathan's current research spans XR applications in rehabilitation, oncology, perioperative care, paediatrics, dementia education, caregiver support, mental wellbeing, and healthy ageing. He collaborates with healthcare organisations and universities across Asia nd Australia and has secured competitive funding from government agencies, universities, healthcare institutions, and industry partners.

Prior to his academic career, Jonathan held senior leadership positions in the international media industry, including Executive Producer at MTV Asia and Managing Director of Mega Media, where he led international television production and produced and directed award-winning feature films. His unique combination of creative media expertise, educational leadership, and healthcare research provides a distinctive interdisciplinary perspective that continues to drive innovation in immersive healthcare, digital health, and technology-enhanced learning.
