Dr Buckley is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and an experienced educator in public health and epidemiology. As Course Coordinator for the Master of Clinical Epidemiology, she leads course development and delivery with a commitment to building students' capacity for rigorous, evidence-based practice. Her teaching draws directly on an active research program in cancer epidemiology, population health and health services research.

She has a strong expertise in using linked health data from clinical and population cancer registries, medical and pharmaceutical claims, radiotherapy, cancer screening and hospital admissions data sources to understand the experience of cancer survivors in Australia. 

Dr Buckley’s research has informed Cancer Australia position statements including biopsy practices in the National Breast Cancer Screening program, and appropriate management of lobular carcinoma in-situ.
