Associate Lecturer (Teaching Specialist (Acad))
Learning and Teaching Innovation
Madison Richter is an Associate Lecturer and PhD candidate at Flinders University with research interests in cognition, learning, and the use of technology to support executive function and learning. Madison's interest in research began during her undergraduate studies, culminating in an Honours project at the University of South Australia in 2020. Her project investigated how individual differences in oscillatory EEG influence memory consolidation mechanisms during sleep. This early work focused on rule learning and the impact of individual information processing capabilities on learning mechanisms.
After completing her Honours, Madison expanded her research into motor learning and executive function by commencing a PhD at Flinders University within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Supported by an Australian Government Research Training Scholarship, her doctoral research uses a co‑design approach to develop a video‑game‑based intervention for adolescents with ADHD, drawing on links between motor learning and executive function.
Alongside her doctoral research, Madison works with Learning and Teaching Innovation at Flinders University as an Associate Lecturer. Her recent work focuses on the design and evaluation of generative AI tools for higher education, including the Learning Buddies student‑support agents, with an emphasis on academic integrity, learning design, and practical support for students. She also works with Information and Digital Services as an AI Specialist, contributing to the development and implementation of Flinders University’s institutional AI strategy.
