KESAB (Keep South Australia Beautiful) showed us how to turn former kitchen waste into tasty, budget-friendly meals. They shared clever tips for using food scraps, reducing waste, saving money, and getting creative in the kitchen. Students and staff gave their pre-loved clothes, accessories, and books a second life by swapping them at the community swap meet. It was a great way to declutter, discover unique treasures, and connect with others while saving money and reducing waste. Free snacks, soft-serve ice cream, drinks, and entertainment were provided, and several lucky participants took home fantastic eco prizes.

Participants dropped in for a quick and fun-filled session to create their own ‘seed bombs’ using a mix of clay, compost, and native or herb seeds of their choice.
After drying overnight, the bombs were ready to be tossed into gardens or pots, no digging required! With a little rain or watering, the clay melted away to reveal the seeds and compost within, kickstarting new native and herb patches.

FUSA Club Space, Student Hub, level 1
This hands-on workshop taught participants how to make their own reusable food wraps to take home! Using natural materials like beeswax, cotton fabric, and jojoba oil, everyone created a sustainable alternative to plastic cling wrap. Perfect for storing snacks, sandwiches, and leftovers! Participants also picked up practical tips for avoiding and reducing waste at home and on campus.

Staff and students upcycled used plastic milk bottles by transforming them into vibrant, creative planters! These easy-to-make containers are perfect for growing fresh herbs and vegetables at home. Herb seedlings and compost were provided to get everyone’s new planters started.

Participants learned how to turn their gardens into havens for native birds, bees, butterflies, and other wildlife. No matter the size of their outdoor space, they discovered how to create nature-rich gardens that benefit both people and local biodiversity. This workshop, presented by Green Adelaide, introduced key principles of wildlife gardening, helping attendees understand which animals were already in their area, what they need to thrive, and how to design a garden that supports them.
