The Flinders HealthCARE Centre, co-funded by Flinders University and the Australian Government will deliver a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary healthcare and education facility with the capacity to rapidly expand university-led medical, nursing, and allied health services. This landmark project is aimed at reducing pressure on the hospital system by providing locals with 10,000 additional episodes of care each year.
The project will also support an additional 1,300 work-ready health graduates each year. This increase will help boost the health system’s capacity, ensuring better, more accessible care and improve patient outcomes across the community.
Design is now underway with the facility anticipated to open in 2029.

Located within the Flinders Health Precinct at Bedford Park in the southern suburbs of Adelaide, the Centre is strategically positioned to rapidly develop, test, and implement new healthcare models alongside public and private hospitals and other health services - significantly reducing the 17+ years it typically takes from discovery to widespread impact. It will work hand in hand with the Flinders Caring Futures Institute alongside ARIIA, a $34M initiative for aged care workforce development and research translation.
By applying advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence, we will optimise healthcare services, reducing waste and improving patient flow.
For instance, Flinders’ collaboration with the South Australian Local Health Network has already identified key bottlenecks in outpatient services.
We aim to help patients manage their health more effectively at home, reducing the need for hospital visits.
By employing proven strategies in self-care, health coaching, and telehealth, we target to reduce unplanned hospital presentations within two years, particularly in chronic disease management.
We will rigorously evaluate all interventions to ensure every dollar invested delivers maximum impact across the healthcare system.
Ensuring sustainable and effective care models that can be deployed across South Australia and nationally.
