Specialist Medical Administrators play a pivotal leadership role in navigating the complexities of modern healthcare systems. The RACMA Fellowship Training Program equips aspiring Medical Leaders with the essential knowledge and skills, and instils a deep sense of responsibility towards promoting quality, safety and innovation in healthcare delivery.
The RACMA Fellowship Training Program aims to prepare Candidates to become specialist medical leaders and managers able to integrate medical and health system expertise with specialist medical leadership and management skills to positively influence and lead the Australasian health care systems. Graduates will be able to provide stewardship of healthcare systems to support safe, equitable, appropriate, sustainable, evidence-based and well-governed care.
The RACMA Fellowship Training Program (FTP)
⦁ Is the recognised pathway to practise as a Specialist Medical Administrator (FRACMA)
⦁ Is delivered through supervised, workplace-based training with real-world leadership experience
⦁ Equips doctors to lead and influence healthcare systems by combining clinical and health system expertise with advanced leadership and management capability
The RACMA training program is a (minimum) three-year program, made up of two phases, each with prescribed trainline, learning and assessment requirements. Candidates must fulfil the requirements of each phase to be eligible for fellowship. Read more below for the outlined components.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure they meet the minimum eligibility criteria and training requirements prior to applying.
Applicants must already have an accredited training position to commence Fellowship Training Program.
To be accepted into the RACMA Fellowship Training Program, an applicant must demonstrate meeting the eligibility requirements as per the RACMA Entry to Training Policy.
RACMA delivers training to empower medical leaders with the knowledge, skills, confidence and self-awareness to play a central, decision-making role within their healthcare and community services. Professional development opportunities include The Leadership for Clinicians Program and The Management for Clinicians program.
Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs) who wish to practice in the speciality of Medical Administration in Australia or NZ must apply directly to the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) for an assessment of their comparability to an Australian/NZ trained specialist. RACMA’s SIMG assessment process evaluates the training, qualifications, and experience of the SIMG for comparability with an Australian/NZ trained Medical Administrator. The specialist pathway for Medical Administration allows for an assessment of specialist recognition to be able to register and practise as a specialist medical administrator.
