Dr Alison Dymmott is the Academic Lead, Rural Allied Health at Flinders University and Deputy Dean, Clinical and Community Practice. Ali has co-lead the co-design of a suite of rural allied health degrees with rural and remote communities which have been introduced in 2024. She also lead innovative interprofessional models of care that harness student led services to meet service and consumer needs. She is a registered occupational therapist and teaches into the Master of Occupational Therapy and Bachelor of Allied Health. She is an experienced educator in occupational therapy, interprofessional learning and rural generalist practice. Her PhD investigated rural allied health workforce challenges and opportunities and specifically explored the impact of the rural generalist pathway on workforce outcomes.
Ali's research investigates ways of improving the lives of rural and remote people through a range of innovative workforce, education and service initiatives. She also undertakes research promoting healthy ageing and service integration. She has expertise in mixed methods and pragmatism and her research utilises knowledge translation approaches.
Ali supervises Higher Degree Research students with an interest in health service development, workforce, training, allied health and rural and remote communities.
