Dr Anthony Khoo is a Consultant Neurologist at Flinders Medical Centre, Clinical Academic at Flinders University and the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN), and Clinical Partnership Lead of the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute. After physician training in Australia, he completed fellowships in epilepsy and neuromuscular diseases at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, London, UK, and a Doctor of Medicine by Research Thesis from the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology.
Dr Khoo leads a clinical neurology and neurophysiology research programme at Flinders University which performs nerve conduction studies, electromyography, single-fibre EMG, quantitative thermal thresholds, autonomic testing (electrochemical skin conductance) and electroencephalography (EEG). His current research interests include optimising management for people with seizures & epilepsy, and multimodal electrodiagnostic testing (large & small nerve fibre testing, EEG, transcranial magnetic stimulation) across neurological and other medical conditions (eg. epilepsy, motor neuron disease, rheumatoid arthritis, long COVID).
Dr Khoo has broad experience in vocational and prevocational medical education and was previously Deputy Director of Clinical Training and Principal Supervisor for International Medical Graduate Trainee Medical Officers at SALHN. He teaches neurology to all years of the Flinders University Medical Programme and is Chair of the Flinders Clinician Early Career Researcher Community of Practice. Since 2023 he has been the Clinical Lead for the Flinders University Doctor of Medicine Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE).
