A/Prof Woods is the lead scientific researcher for the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at Flinders Medical Centre. A/Prof Woods leads and coordinates clinical research across all sub-specialities of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. She collaborates extensively to develop research programs that further clinical development of surgical treatments, explore pathophysiological processes, and improve clinical processes across the discipline. She has active projects in the sub-specialties of Sleep (sleep apnoea surgery), Head and Neck Cancer (bomarker development, surveillance re-design, drug repurposing for novel treatment options), Laryngology (swallowing), Otology (Indigenous ear health), Rhinology (sinus secretions and irrigation formulations), and also evaluates surgical outcomes and new devices. A/Prof Woods is the clinical trial coordinator for investigator-led and industry sponsored clinical trials. She has supervised numerous successful student projects and higher degree students.
