Dr Chirag Patel was born in Wales, UK, where he underwent medical education and training. He emigrated in 2014 and undertook 2 years of Emergency Medicine to acquire the Certificate in Emergency Medicine. He then decided to pursue rural general practice and achieved his dual fellowship in 2021 during which he also completed the Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine. He has completed a Masters in Ophthalmic Science as part of his special interest in Ophthalmology. He has completed a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Education and is an academic titleholder for Flinders University where he provides teaching to medical students. His current research interests are in clinical education and diabetic retinopathy. In his spare time, he coaches youth soccer and enjoys playing the piano and guitar.
