My base training is mathematics, economics and apparel engineering. I graduated with my PhD in Industrial Design Engineering in the specialist area of Medical Design (Medesign) in 2019 from TUDelft in The Netherlands. Honours, awards and grants

Winner Australian Wool Corporation Young Designer Award 1987, Silver Jubilee Award for Young Australians 1988, SimTech Health Award Outstanding Abstract 2010 and Winner of the Ken Provins Award 2011 for the best academic paper at the Australian Human Factors (HFESA) Conference 2011.

Key responsibilities

I currently have adjunct academic status at Flinders University in the School of Medicine. I had an ongoing contract with Flinders University from 2007-2017 working on the Anthropometry for Elective Surgery Assessment (AFESA) study where I set-up and operated the Cyberware WBX body scanner based in Media and Illustration, Flinders Hospital. I am a criterion anthropometrist. I have worked with different researchers planning and setting up research projects that involve anthropometry

I was the lead researcher for the Australian National Size and Shape Surveyin 2002. I am the lead author of a series of reports commissioned by the Australia Government SafeWork Australia (SWA) on anthropometry and design(2009 - 2013).

I have designed and produced both life-like medical and apparel manikins since 1999.Clients include the United States AirForce, Beehive and The Gap. I am an inventor and the owner of a US design patent and has registered designs in Australia, Europe, United States and the European Community related to making manikins.
