David Roxby (H index 15, citations 608, publications 50) is a Professor in the College of Medicine and Public Health (Haematology/Transfusion Medicine), Flinders University and Emeritus Senior Medical Scientist at SA Pathology where previously he was Head, SA Pathology Transfusion Service, South Australia for more than 35 years with a career in Transfusion Medicine spanning more than 45 years. Over the years David has been the recipient of numerous research grants in Transfusion Medicine from various agencies totalling $3,500,000. He has co-published 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers in the field of Transfusion Medicine and has received numerous speaker invitations to present at national and international Haematology/Transfusion conferences. David’s areas of interest include the interface between the laboratory and clinical practice, improvement in transfusion practices, critical bleeding and massive transfusion and the safe and appropriate use of blood and blood products. David has a very detailed knowledge of both the laboratory and clinical aspects of Transfusion Medicine and the importance of patient blood management and minimizing transfusion risks. His knowledge and expertise in patient blood management has been recognized as a member of the National Blood Authority Patient Blood Management Advisory Committee and other national committees.
