Jacqui Stasinopoulos

Dr Jacqui Stasinopoulos is a Lecturer at Flinders University and a Pharmacist at SA Health, with experience teaching pharmacy practice at Monash University and Adelaide University. Jacqui is passionate about keeping Australians safe from medicine-related harm and equipping the next generation of prescribers with strong principles of pharmacology, therapeutics and multidisciplinary teamwork needed to deliver patient-centred care.

Jacqui's teaching, clinical and research interests are united by a single aim: enhancing the health of Australians through Quality Use of Medicines. She is particularly interested in investigating and addressing medicine use and health service challenges in vulnerable populations, including frail older adults, patients with diabetes, obesity, multimorbidity, polypharmacy and socioeconomic disadvantage, and women of reproductive age using medicines. Jacqui continues to collaborate with research groups at Flinders and Adelaide University.

Jacqui completed her PhD at Monash University's Centre for Medicine Use and Safety, examining medication management and burden of type 2 diabetes in residential aged care. Before joining the teaching team at the College of Health and Enablement, she worked as a Research Associate in the Reproductive and Perinatal Pharmacoepidemiology Group, College of Medicine and Public Health at Flinders University. This dual grounding in aged care and perinatal and reproductive health pharmacoepidemiology sparked a broader interest in how medicines are used, and often over- or under-used, across the life course. 

Jacqui's earlier training in Nutrition and Dietetics continues to inform how she thinks about medicines as one part of a patient's broader holistic care, alongside diet, lifestyle and other interventions that address the biopsychosocial dimensions of health.
