James Gordon

Lecturer (Teaching and Research)

College of Education, Psychology and Social Work

James is a generalist social scientist with broad interests in improving societal health, wellbeing, and sustainability through better quality evidence-based policy making. He is particularly interested in wellbeing policy making and public policy reform processes, including in policy integration and New Public Management. His research taps into his extensive experience in finance, accounting, public administration, economics, environmental sustainability, and management.

He holds a PhD in Public Administration from American University where he won the Neil and Ann Kerwin Doctoral Fellowship for best dissertation likely to lead to high impact research. He also has extensive experience working with industry partners and in project managing large scale research initiatives. This includes collaborations with World Vision Australia, Enable Social Enterprises, the Social Outcomes Lab, and The Australian Centre for Rural Entrepreneurship. He joined the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work at Flinders University in 2024 as a Lecturer in Evaluation and Research Methods.
