Associate Professor Jason Booth is the Academic Lead of Optometry and joined Flinders in 2014. He has helped maintain the authenticity of the work integrated learning experiences for students both on and off campus to ensure they are taught clinical diagnostic thinking skills.

Jason’s first role as an optometry graduate was in Broken Hill. Majority of the time he was the only eye care professional (primary or secondary) in a 300km radius. Any major services were 500km away. He held this role for five years and became the store manager, were he honed clinical, diagnostic, and people-management skills.

Jason worked in community practice in many locations for the next 12 years. He worked clinically but also spent time as a regional optometry manager and sales manager.
