Dr Jessica Williamson is a postdoctoral researcher in the Pregnancy Health and Beyond laboratory at Flinders University. Her work focuses on how maternal nutrition regulates maternal and fetal outcomes via the placenta. She is particuarly interested in understanding the mechanisms underpinning the relationship between excess folic acid intake and increased risk of gestational diabetes. She has extensive experience in in vitro modelling of placental function spanning cell lines, placental explants and organoids.
