Jo is a Senior Lecturer and the Director of the award-winning Flinders Legal Advice Clinic where she is also a supervising solicitor. The clinic is a Flinders Law service providing free legal advice to the community while providing clinical legal education to law students. She has been with the Clinic since July 2013.
She was a guest lecturer for the Masters of Psychology (Forensic) at the University of South Australia and has also taught in the Tort Law course at Flinders University.
Upon her admission as a lawyer in 1985 Jo worked in private legal practice initially in a country legal practice and later in both suburban and city legal practices. She has also worked briefly as a Deputy Registrar of the Family Court of Australia and for six years as Senior In-House Counsel with a large non-Government education body.

Jo was a mentor with the LAP Association programme from 2002 - 2015 working with secondary school age students. In 2016 the programme Jo is involved with changed its name to the Student Mentoring Progamme. Jo continues to mentor students.
