Dr Joanne (Yuan) Zhou is a Lecturer and Research Fellow in the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work. She teaches into PSYC3235 Applications of Psychological Sciences, WELL1001/8001 Foundations of Mental Health and Wellbeing, and WELL1002/8002 Developing Your Own Mental Health and Wellbeing. Trained as a clinical psychologist, Dr Zhou brings a practitioner-informed lens to her research and teaching. Her current research focuses on designing and testing a mobile phone app that targets transdiagnostic processes, such as perfectionism and self-criticism, to help prevent the development of eating disorders in young people. Her PhD investigated the use of imagery rescripting as an adjunct treatment for disordered eating. She was awarded the 2019 Peter Beumont Young Investigator Award by the Australia and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED), and the 2020 Flinders University Best Higher Degree by Research Student Publication.
