Karleen Thornton

Karleen Thornton is an Associate Professor of Nursing, having joined the University from Industry in September 2022.   Karleen is a senior registered nurse academic (and non practicing midwife) with expertise in nursing education, critical thinking, professional frameworks and educational governance. Karleen has extensive experience in leadership positions prior to joining Flinders University and has continued to contribute to nursing programs in leadership positions. Karleen has experience in accreditation documentation preparation and being an ANMAC panel member. 

Karleen actively teaches fundamental care to enhance fundamental care delivery and patient outcomes, which is enhanced by being an office bearer for the International Learning Collaborative, the internationally recognised voice for the fundamentals of care.

Doctorate of Education: University of South Australia  

Master of Education (Adult): University of South Australia  

Master of Nursing (Advanced Practice):   University of South Australia  

Bachelor of Nursing (Post Graduate):   Flinders University
