Research Fellow in Coastal Ecosystem Restoration Ecology
College of Science and Engineering
Kieren Beaumont is an ecologist who applies his expertise in biodiversity, vegetation, and ecosystem science to specialist teaching roles and research projects at Flinders University. He delivers excellence in teaching through the development and coordination of undergraduate topics in ecology and conservation, drawing on his experience in fire, rangeland, and coastal ecology, as well as his keen interest in insect–plant interactions. Over the past five years, Kieren has led research projects focused on the ecosystem functions and restoration of intertidal ecosystems. He works with governments, councils, and conservation organisations to advance the restoration of coastal ecosystems. This includes advising on the Blue Carbon Strategy for South Australia, developing ecosystem integrity indicators aligned with the United Nations framework for Environmental Economic Accounting, testing revegetation methods for intertidal wetland restoration, and producing a legislated method for verifying coastal wetland restoration outcomes for the Federal Government’s Nature Repair Market.
