Dr. Lara Escane is the Year 1 Coordinator for the Medical Science programs at Flinders University. She is the Topic Coordinator for the Year 4 work-integrated learning topics MMED4013A+B and MMED4014A+B Professional Practice in Medical Science, where she supports students undertaking clinical placements in diagnostic pathology laboratories. Lara is also a member of the Human Molecular Genetics teaching team.

Lara completed her Bachelor of Medical Science and Bachelor of Science (Honours) at Flinders University before undertaking a PhD in Molecular Medicine and Genetics. Her doctoral research investigated energy metabolism pathways in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, with a focus on identifying potential therapeutic targets and prognostic biomarkers.

Her teaching interests include work-integrated learning, professional identity development, and preparing students for careers in the medical science workforce through authentic and industry-engaged learning experiences.
