College of Science and Engineering
Dr Luke Jennings is a Lecturer of Digital Forensics with the College of Science and Engineering. His research focusses on the interpretation of digital traces left behind by physical activity in mobile and wearable devices. This includes mobile phones, smart watches, fitness and medical devices.
He previously worked professionally as senior digital forensic scientist at Digital Forensic Sciences Australia Pty Ltd with the experience of around 100 cases, many concerned with health data records and telecommunication network records.
His PhD focussed on the forensic applications of Apple health data. This involved the experimentation and exploration around the health data such as step counts, heart rates, distances, stair climbs, etc. This research discussed how those records are generated, how they are interpreted, what their limitations are, and how they can be useful.
